Being involved in network marketing, particularly the business opportunity niche, I am frequently faced with people who say that they don’t have enough money to get started. Then they begin to tell me why they are broke and why they desperately need to make more money. Or, they tell me how they’ve tried other programs and didn’t make any money. Or, how they got scammed, which may or may not be true.
This may sound cold or unsympathetic, but I don’t care. What I am hearing are excuses and sob stories.
What I hear is the testimony of a victim, a victim of circumstances, a victim of scams, a victim of corporate America, a victim of life.
Quite frankly, they are victimizing themselves.
It was their thoughts, their perceptions, their decisions, their choices and their actions that brought them to this stage in their life.
It is a lot easier to blame someone, or something, else for the challenges in our lives. It is much more difficult to look at ourselves and see our own flaws and shortcomings and how they’ve effected our lives, past and present.
How do we get rid of the victim mentality?
We have to remove everyone and everything else from the equation and focus on ourselves and the decisions we’ve made, the actions we’ve taken and our reactions to the obstacles that life often puts in our path. Realizing that they are truly what led us to where we are today. They will also determine where we are going and the success, or lack of, that we will have in the future.
The buck stops here…
Our thoughts determine our decisions. Our decisions determine our actions. Our actions determine our life.
We are responsible…
For our own life. Past, present and future.
Others are not to blame for their influence. We allowed ourselves to be influenced.
Others are not to blame for our failures. We are the ones who failed.
Others can not be responsible for our success. We must do the work. They merely guide us. We must travel our own path.
