Attraction Marketing

The key to success in any business is marketing.

You have to know how to market your products, services or business opportunies to the right people. A lot of time and money can be wasted on prospecting people who have no interest in what you have to offer. The old school network marketing techniques like the 3 foot rule, hanging flyers, bugging your family and friends, and holding hotel meetings just don’t work as well anymore. With all the advertising that people are bombarded with everyday, it’s no wonder people hate telemarketers and pop-up ads on their computer screen. They can’t escape it. Everywhere they go and doing everything they do, someone is trying to sell them something. On Billboards, TV, radio, the telephone and especially the internet.

This is why methods like Attraction Marketing and Social Networking are becoming the norm for most businesses who are brave enough to step out of the box and try something different. They position themselves where people are going to look for their particular product or service. They don’t jam their product or biz op down the throat of the prospect. They build relationships with the prospects. Show them that they understand their needs, offer solutions to their problems and make sales as a result. The prospects actually often request information rather than involuntarily receiving it. That’s ‘Attraction Marketing.’

The Attraction Marketing concept exploded onto the scene and revolutionized the Network Marketing and MLM industries with the release of Mike Dillard’s groundbreaking book “Magnetic Sponsoring.” It explains, in great detail, the three key ingredients for success in marketing.

1.) Build a list of people who are looking for what you have to offer
2.) Build a relationship with that list
3.) Market to that list.

Well, you may ask, where do you find those people? That’s where Social Networking comes into play. Websites like MySpace and Facebook were once perceived as places where teenagers socialized and that nobody would make any money there. That may have been true at one time, but not anymore. A lot of people are making a lot of money on these sites. Not to mention the explosion of You Tube and the introduction of Twitter. By adding videos, blogs and social networking to your marketing arsenal, the possibities are endless.

I thought you might be able to relate, or at least be encouraged, by this article I wrote awhile back:

“I’m sure that I’m not the only one who has encountered family and friends who think that it’s foolish or too risky to start a home-based business. Especially if you found your opportunity on the internet. That really freaks them out doesn’t it? They’ll say stuff like, “The internet is full of spammers and scammers trying to steal your money!” or “You’re not going to make enough money doing that.” and my personal favorite… “Why can’t you get a regular job like everybody else!?”

Well, I had an argument recently with someone who felt I should stay a wage slave and be overworked, underpayed an miserable like they are.

This is basically the nicer, edited version of what I told them…
After the 24 years I’ve been in the workforce, I have nothing to show for it. I have no job security, I have been laid-off for lack of work, down-sizing or companies going out of business. I have had to work at temporary assignments through staffing services for the last 10 years, or work part-time because a lot of companies don’t want to hire for full-time because they’d have to pay for employees’ medical benefits. These big companies and corporations see workers as numbers that are expendable. This is who’s been in control of my future. A future of unemployment, a mountain of debt, no health insurance and no way to save for retirement.

Well, I am not an expendable number and I am the one that should be in control of my future. I believe that the key to doing that is to get rid of the employee mindset and replace it a business owner mindset if we are to succeed in our home-based businesses. Whatever type of business it is. We have to pledge to work at least as hard for ourselves as we would for an employer. I am sure that with the right mindset, training, resources and products, anyone can succeed in this business. There’s proof of success out there if the nay-sayers cared to look.”

There is proof of success out there and you can succeed. Don’t let anybody tell you any different. Success takes time and effort…and a little help from your friends ;)

To Your Success,
Jonathan Lamphier
